Interim management is a way of resourcing senior management positions that often makes more sense than taking on a permanent person. It is a cost effective and flexible approach to resourcing which saves time and money up front. We interims are doers, as opposed to consultants. We are hands-on, pragmatic, experienced managers who take pride in completion of our deliverables to an agreed timeline and the efficient achievement of objectives. The typical interim assignment can last from several weeks to several months depending on the requirements. Assignments are not always fulltime – often a role can be covered with 1-2 days per week input.
Project orientated assignments
Typically there will be a definitive list of objectives and delivery timescales in mind for the assignment. Examples of project roles include:
Kick-starting start-up situations
Managing rapid growth / new market entry
Fast-tracking critical projects
Managing specific initiatives or change processes
Risk Management and Corporate Governance reviews
Regulatory compliance initiatives
Crisis management
Business Turnaround & Corporate Recovery
Normally for project work I will sit outside the structure and work closely with the
management team on specific deliverables.
Management cover assignments
These assignments arise where a permanent management role is vacant for various
reasons:
Covering sudden departures
Maternity cover
Stalled permanent recruitment situations
In this situation I will endeavour to work with you to replace myself as the assignment
draws to a close.
